![]() I could have continued making manual entries into my Quick app. Unfortunately, I began having problems syncing all of my financial accounts, including my primary bank account. Quicken is powerful and has many excellent features. Until about two years ago, I used Quicken, one of the most popular desktop money management software programs. Each month I document and review my spending, investments, and credit scores. I'm curious if any of you PFers use some kind of software in the same way I use Quicken, and if so, which package do you use? What do you like (or not) about it? Any recommendations welcome - even if they're to say "your'e a dummy use, it has what you need.I’m a big proponent of tracking my money. I did take a quick swing at MoneyDance, but it screwed up importing my Quicken file (duplicate accounts balances wrong etc.) so I ditched it quickly. When I've set up tools like PersonalCapital, they seem to really be focused on investments and past cashflow - not forward-looking transactions. ![]() I can see a running balance into the future with these planned transactions, telling at a glance where my balance is too high or low and take whatever action I think is appropriate. I can easily see what transactions haven't cleared, or where the downloaded transaction is a different amount than I had entered. Quicken's automatic download from my checking account then helps me reconcile what I planned vs. I enter upcoming checking account transactions (either as recurring, or manual one-time entries) when I schedule them, even if they're weeks or months in the future. I effectively use Quicken as a digital checkbook register. I've found many alternatives that are great for investment tracking, or viewing past cashflow, or analyzing historical transactions the problem I have is that this isn't how I use Quicken. I've been a user of Quicken, and before that MS Money, since about 2001. I'm looking for an alternative to Quicken, as they switch from a licensed-software to (overpriced) subscription service.
